Ellen J. Carey

She was born in Rumford, Maine on March 11, 1943 a daughter of Erwin E. and Alice (McDonald) Gould.

Ellen was educated in Mexico schools.

She married Edward L. Carey, Sr. on July 24, 1965 and together they celebrated 46 years of marriage.

Ellen enjoyed knitting and crocheting and donated many blankets, mittens, hats, and sweaters to the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital.

She also loved gardening, playing beano, and spending time with family and friends, dancing and listening to music at the Eagles.

Ellen was an Elvis Presley fan.

Surviving are her husband of 46 years, Edward L. “Butch” Carey, Sr. of Mexico, who she loved very much; her mother, Alice Gould of Mexico; two children, Edward L. Carey, Jr. and wife Kathy of Rumford, and Erwin K. Carey and wife Jessica of Limerick; a special friend who was like a daughter, Dawn Hamilton of Rumford; three sisters, Patty Dyer and husband Kenneth of Florida, Mary Whitehouse and husband Robert of Mexico, and Julie Melanson and husband Dick of Rumford; two brothers, Archie Gould and wife Susan of Mexico, and Michael Gould and wife Lynn of Mexico; and five grandchildren, Amanda Carey, Zakeri Carey, Shelby Carey, Joshua Pettegrow, and Karissa Pettegrow.

She was predeceased by her father and a sister, Linda Bernard.
