

Arthur was born on July 20, 1940 in Wilton, Maine. He lived in Rumford, Maine for all of his life. He was the third child of Méridé and Gèrmaine (Jolin) Boivin.
Arthur graduated from St. John’s Parochial School and Stephens High School class of 1959.
He married Lyanne (Spaulding) Boivin on November 24, 1962. Arthur dedicated his life to his family and to his community.
In 1998 after 33 years of service, Arthur retired as Chief from the Rumford Fire Department. In his retirement, he continued to serve Rumford on the Board of Selectman, the School Board and the Historical Society.
He invested many hours producing video presentations for family, friends, his church and community.
Arthur had numerous citizen of the year awards.
He loved adventure of all kinds and enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, building, skydiving, flying and water skiing. He was also a member of RAAPA and the Holy Savior Parish Church Choir.
Arthur volunteered during Operation Desert Storm and with the ladies auxiliary of the American Legion during Operation Enduring Freedom 2010-2011 to construct personalized shields honoring local service members deployed overseas.
Arthur is survived by his son Darren Boivin and wife Laurie of Eustis, Maine; daughter Kim Boivin and Richard Patenaude of Peru, Maine; son Gregory Boivin and wife, Katherine of Colorado Springs, Colorado; daughter, Lynn Holmes and husband Rick of Las Vegas, Nevada; daughter Elise Boivin and Scott Meadows of Greenwood, Maine; sister Jeannette Neuman and brother-in-law Dale Neuman of Boise, Idaho; mother-in-law Eva Spaulding of Mexico, Maine; sister-in-law Gerry Boivin of Rumford, Maine and brother-in-law James Parker of Boise, Idaho. Arthur’s grandchildren include Derek Baltrus, Nicole Baltrus, Brittany LaRoche, Danielle Baltrus, Mark Boivin, Cody Boivin, Michelle Holmes, Amanda Boivin, Dawn Boivin, Amy Boivin, Brandon Boivin and Crystal Holmes. Great Grandchildren are Alexis, Wesley, Kendra and Brook.
Arthur was predeceased by his parents, his wife of 43 years Lyanne (Spaulding) Boivin, a sister Cécile Parker of Boise, Idaho; his brother J. Eugene Boivin of Rumford, Maine; father-in-law Stanley Spaulding of Mexico, Maine and sister-in-law Shirley Porter of Windham, Maine.
Arthur was a very devoted husband, a proud father and Papa. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
