

Mexico – Lea Mae Walker, age 56, formerly of Somerset St. in Rumford, passed away peacefully at the Fourth Street Home in Mexico, on Thursday June 2, 2016, a place that she loved, and was loved by all the staff that came to know her.
She was born in Rumford, Maine on October 10, 1959 a daughter of Mary Walker and Joseph W. Gallant.
Lea loved participating in all of the Day Programs at the Hope Association, most especially her weekly trips to “GRAMPS” and Walmart.
She had a strong opinion when it came to politics, and has made trips to the State Capital in Augusta and the White House in Washington, DC.
Lea loved her tea and especially her chocolate cake, and she loved making nurses caps. She also loved to write letters and each day she would wait for the mailman to send off her letters.
Lea loved watching “General Hospital” and the Beverly Hillbillies, singing, taking long rides and trips to the Dairy Queen.
Surviving are her brothers, Reggie Sweatt and wife Joyce of Norway, and Bruce Walker and wife Kristina of Lebanon; three very special aunts, Doris Gallant, Ida Luther, and Rita Perry; many nieces and nephews; and her Fourth Street family.
She was predeceased by her parents, a sister Elaine, a brother Lee and a sister in law, Judy Walker.
The family wishes to thank Tina Roy and the Fourth Street Staff, especially Cindy Beedy for their love and wonderful care they gave to Lea.
The family also would like to thank the Hope Association and the Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, especially her nurse Donna.
