He was born in Rumford, Maine on September 14, 1951 a son of Theodore and Jeannette (Cyr) Mayo.
Lee was educated in Rumford schools and was a graduate of Rumford High School Class of 1970. While in high school he was on the gymnastics team at the GRCC.
He was employed as a Master Electrician in the Rumford Paper Mill for many years.
Lee enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.
Lee was a member of the Sons of the American Legion and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Surviving are his siblings, Jeffrey Mayo and wife Beth of Rumford and Florida, Thomas Mayo and wife Pamela of Cornville, Maine, Marc Mayo and wife Charlotte of Rumford, Pamela Lyons of Hanover and Florida, John Mayo and wife Carolyn of Forest Grove, Oregon, and Shannon David and husband John of Rumford; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and his beloved cat “Snuffy.”
He was predeceased by his parents and a son Michael.
The family would like to offer a big thank you to the staff at the Rumford Community Home for the care given to Lee.
A Graveside service will be held in the spring.
