

Ruth “Betty” Louise Vallee, age 91, formerly of Rumford, died peacefully on June 28, 2015, with her niece by her side, at the Sandy River Rehabilitation Center in Farmington, where she has resided since December of 2014.
Betty was born on September 6, 1923 in Farmington, a daughter of Lewis and Ruby Howard Fish. She was raised in Weld as an infant by her great-grandparents, Bill and Julia Horne until the age of 12, and then by her paternal grandparents, Daisy and Sherm Howard.
She attended schools in Weld and graduated with the class of 1942 from Weld High School. Betty held many jobs throughout her life. Her last job was at the Rumford Hospital as a nurse’s aide.
On May 21, 1957 Betty married Alfred Vallee in Dixfield, Maine. They resided at Kennebec St later moving to their final home on Maple Street in Rumford. They were married for over 30 years prior to Freddie’s passing on March 24, 1987.
Betty was known for her knitting and crocheting abilities. In her later years Betty enjoyed reading books of all kinds, spending time with her beloved kitties, Ashley and Annette, and visits from friends and family.
Betty is survived by her brother, Tommy Fish of Auburn; her sister, Muriel (Judy) Sawyer of Lewiston; two sisters-in-law, Eleanor Fish of Weld and Bonnie Fish of Swanton, Vermont; many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren, all of Massachusetts; numerous nieces and nephews; including two special nieces, Helen Hader and her husband Bill of Weld, and Beverly Carey and her husband Bill, of Rumford; and several cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents, grandparents and great-grandparents, her husband, her brothers Harry Fish and William Fish, step fathers, step mother, aunts and uncles, her half-sisters, Shirley Russell, Colie D’Avignon and Nadine Jaques, her step son Theodore Vallee and her step daughter, Minerva Mager.
