Alma was the beloved wife of the late Larry Mantese; the devoted mother of Gary Mantese and Mark Mantese; the cherished grandmother of Michael Lawrence Mantese, Gary "Spike" Mantese, Anthony Mark Mantese, and Jennifer Ann Mantese; and sister-in-law of Vito Mantese and Gino Giacomello; dear aunt, cousin, and a dear friend to many in her lifetime.
Alma was born July 15, 1923 in Crystal City, Missouri to Eugene and Harriet Tomaselli. She married the love of her life, Larry Mantese, on June 15, 1945 at Saint Ambrose on The Hill. Together they raised their two sons, Gary and Mark in South St. Louis in the house she lived in for 57 years.
Alma loved to read and tend to her garden. She had a beautiful garden. She and Larry hosted many wonderful parties and gatherings in their home, with Larry's fellow musicians, relatives, and friends from all over. She loved playing double solitaire for hours with family members.
Her cooking was amazing! She was the true definition of a gourmet cook. If she liked a dish in a restaurant, she was never satisfied unless she could duplicate it or improve upon it. Her kitchen was her domain.
Alma was sweet, loving, understanding, and a little feisty. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family requests no flowers at this time. A Celebration of Alma's Life will be on a later date. Please check back here for more information.
