James Boehm, passed away on Thursday February 8, 2018 at the age of 72. The son of the late Marvin and Delvine Boehm; loving father of Sarah (James) Ammon, Emily Taylor, Catherine (Stephen) Bowler and Grace Boehm; cherished grandfather of Abigail, Samantha, Gabriel, Madeleine, Nathan, Jacob, Peter, Allison, Luke, Elizabeth , Meagan, Gilbert and Atticus. James was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Sandra Boehm.
James was the most generous person, a self-proclaimed hermit though he sure loved to chat with anyone that was willing to listen. A gentle and sensitive man who cared deeply for the wellbeing of others, even strangers, when there was a need to be met, he was always there. Whenever his grandchild would be nearby, you know for absolute sure they had an ice cream cone in their hand.
He loved music (the good old stuff), studying history, getting goofy greeting card in the mail, old musicals, Pepsi, taking long drives, Chinese food, reading maps, going junking for treasures, staring at paintings, all things Irish, telling stories of his time in service in North Dakota, the giraffes at the St. Louis Zoo and making babies smile.
He will be dearly missed, but knowing that his mind is fully healed in the presence of Jesus will give comfort.
Memorial gathering will be held on Thursday March 1, 2018 11a.m.-1 p.m. Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary 6464 Chippewa St., St. Louis, MO 63109. Memorial Service to follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial with military honors at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
