Beth, I just found out about Steve's passing. I worked with him at Action and RV Evans. Steve always had a joke and always made me laugh.I Will truly miss him, he was a good friend. I hope you and the children are going well. Steve will be missed by all! Rick Wosmansky 8-(

Steve Green was a legend in south St. Louis. I had the pleasure of getting to know him late in the sixties through guys like Heitz, Pisone and Yates...Steve was the Real Deal in so many ways. 

I am just now today back in town from a business trip and missed the wake & funeral, but was there in spirit. Steve was always one of my favorite people and I miss him already. Please know that Heaven just got a lot better this week.

Hi Beth:  I don't know if you remember me or not.  I use to work at Fire Alarm and you helped me out on some of the physical performance tests for Probationary Fire Private.  I want to express my sympathy to you and your family for your loss.  Steve is in a better place and in God's care.  Your brother-in-law lives across the street from me and is a great neighbor and a good friend.  We share all of our troubles.  Take care and know that God is always with you at all times especially when they seem to be so difficult.

It was late '70's or early 80's and it was our first preseason softball practice that spring for Biggie Rat's Tavern (the team later became Sandman Waterbeds).  That day Rich Walker, who'd been with our team a number of years, brought along a new player for a look-see.  A big, tough looking guy.  Steve Green was his name.  It was quickly evident we had ourselves a player.  A powerful hitter and a fast glove.  While Steve made a great first impression that day it was what would come later that will always stick with me.  Steve was 8 years older than me but we grew extremely close over those ensuing years.  I remember the great games, the camaraderie, that laugh.  There was just something about him; a charisma, I suppose.  I just knew that, no matter what, Steve Green had my back.  I'll always remember those days and that friendship.  After our playing days were over I lost touch with Steve; it's been fifteen years or more since I last saw him.  By chance I saw his name in the obituary and all those memories came flooding back.  I played softball for a quarter-century on countless teams with hundreds of different players.  Steve was unquestionably one of the best players; that much was obvious.  But more than that, he was at the very top of my list of favorite people.  I knew Steve was tough, but he was always a gentleman.  If I were to name the ten guys on my All-Time Team, my second-baseman is Steve Green.  God Bless you man and I hope only the best for your family. So long old buddy.

I'm so sorry. I just found out. I wanted to be there for you bit had no idea Steve passed .  I just accidently saw it today on your fb.  I'm really sorry. If I would have known I would have been there all day.

Beth and family, Marty, Al, Mike and Suzie.  This hit me pretty hard.  We knew each other from diapers and he was for such a long time my best friend.  I don't want to do the math, but when I was 31 I wrote a song about Steve.  It never mentions his name, nor the stuff we did, but embodies how I feel and felt about him.  I hope this is not inappropriate:

It's been seventeen years since we shared our confusion,
Keeping some to ourselves to make new rainy days.

I'm just wonderin' now if you're still good for nothin'
Still better than those who make you pay through the nose,
And are good to those only who pay.

And I remember the years we shared our illusions,
Keeping some for ourselves to insure sunny days.

One of my very oldest friends growing up in the Hi-Pointe neighborhood. Will always appreciate his friendship and that of  the entire Green family. Remembering his blend of humor and toughness. He was indeed fortunate for the good and close friends he had.

I am very sad for your loss.  This is going to be a very hard time for all of you.  Your Dad was fighter and made sure he fought this battle so he was able to stick around with all of you for as long as he could.  More than anyone that I have known with this disease.  That was because he truly loved all of you.  Stick together, be respectful to each other and fight for what is right and you will all make Steve proud.  If any of you need anything at anytime please let me know.

I was so very sad to hear about Steve ... especially after we talked last week about your visit with him.  This came way too soon.  It is an awful disease that takes our loved ones way too soon.  You know I speak from experience because I lost my dad at the same age.  I know you have a wonderful family to help you get through this terribly sad time; but I wanted you to know that I haven't stopped thinking about you and how you're doing since I heard about Steve yesterday.  Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. 

Unfortunately, I will not be able to get to the visitation tonight; but, as I'm sure you expected, I will make a donation to Stray Rescue in Steve's name.  If you need to talk, please don't hesitate to call me.

Beth I truly feel for you and your family right now and can honestly say I have been praying for all of you. I remember Steve as being a cheerful cheerleader on the soccer sidelines and almost always seemed to have a smile on his face. His suffering is over and it is us that sometimes selfishly want to keep our loved ones near when we know that "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord". Thoughts of Steve always made me smile. He hated when I called the house to get Beth to go out with he gals. However, Steve loved to give me trouble and before I could even ask if Beth could go out with us he would say "NO". LOL  I  never saw Steve that much, but when I did I loved talking with him and giving him grief. I'm sure he knows he will be missed by many and loved by all.
