Annie Lee Jones, 92, passed away peacefully on Dec. 21, 2021 at Atria Assisted Living in Salisbury surrounded by her family. Born and raised in Pittsville, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Edna Melson Downs. Annie was a graduate of Pittsville High School, and the Goldey-Beacom Business School in Wilmington.
For most of her working lifetime Annie was a poultry farmer, but her last few years working she spent as a bookkeeper with Wicomico County. She was a faithful, long time member of the Ayres United Methodist Church in Pittsville. She cherished spending her time with her family and her church family. The family is especially grateful to the staff at Atria Assisted Living for the special care their mother received. This helped make the last two years of Annie's life fuller and happier.
In addition to her parents, Annie was preceded in death by her husband Jack Jones in 2009. She is survived by her five children: Elizabeth “Libby” Davis, Jacqueline “Jackie” Brumbley (Ben), Bart Jones, Julia “Judy” Esham (Jay),and Amy Trader (Norman); nine grandchildren: George and Walter Richardson, Clay Brumbley, Kalee and John Thomas Jones, Julie Wiltbank, Jennifer Townsend, Kristi and Brian Trader; 13 great-grandchildren, and her sister Angela Gray (Robbin).
Friends may call at Bounds Funeral Home, 705 E. Main St., Salisbury on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2021 from 10:00am until the time of services at 12:00 noon. Pastor Shane Moran will officiate. Interment will follow in Pittsville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Annie’s memory to the Ayres United Methodist Church, 7516 Gumboro Rd., Pittsville, MD 21850.
