Don was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Mildred “Millie” Euerle Wilber in 2010. He is survived by his children, Carolyn and Mario Gonzalez of Phoenix, MD, Roy and Yolanda Wilber of Tampa, FL, Paul and JoAnn Wilber, Alan and Janice Wilber of Salisbury, and Gary and Melanie Wilber of Delmar, MD; 14 grandchildren, Ivan and Marissa Gonzalez, Jose Gonzalez, Lisa Gonzalez, Jaime Gonzalez, Jennifer and Ryan Kenney, Susan Wilber, Sarah Wilber, Amy Wilber, Edgar Leon, Anaely Hernandez, Denny Leon, Victor Leon; many great-grandchildren; sister, Ethel Millard; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Fred Wilber. He is also survived by a special friend, Ann Suthowski.
Don attended Syracuse University then worked at Pratt & Whitney in Hartford, Conn. During World War II, he served in the Army Air Force in Amarillo, TX and Lincoln, NE training aircraft mechanics. After the war, Don and Millie settled on a farm near Salisbury, MD. They raised chickens, truck crops and small grains. He served as president of the Delmarva Poultry Industry and received its Distinguished Citizen Award. Don also served for many years on the Maryland Agricultural Commission. Don was a hard worker but did also enjoy traveling, playing cards, golfing and the Baltimore Orioles. Being involved with the Methodist Men’s group at Bethesda UMC brought him great pleasure in his later years.
A Celebration of Mr. Wilber’s Life will be held Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 12:30pm at Bounds Funeral Home on East Main Street in Salisbury where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Rev. Dr. W. Daniel Rich will officiate. Inurnment will follow in Wicomico Memorial Park.
