

Edward B. "Ned" Kormann died on May 8, 2015 at Wicomico Nursing Home. He was born in Baltimore on October 14, 1922, the son of Ethel (Haines) Kormann and Edward Louis Kormann. Ned was a graduate of Polytechnic High School in Baltimore. After graduation he began working for C & P Telephone Company. He was drafted into the Army in January, 1943. His military occupational specialty was as a Cable Splicer -Telephone and Telegraph. Eventually he was assigned to the 82nd Air Borne Division as a Paratrooper. His field of action was described as "Rhineland - Central Europe." Decorations and citations included "Parachuters Badge," Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbons, and World War II Victory Ribbon. He was honorably discharged in February, 1946. When he returned home he was re-hired by C & P Telephone Company. He then decided to take advantage of the GI Bill. Ned eventually earned his B.S. degree in Business Administration at Loyola College in Baltimore. He continued working in the marketing department at C & P Telephone which transitioned into Bell Atlantic and eventually Verizon. He retired in 1985 after 43 years of service. He was a life member of the VFW, a member of the American Legion, as well as an integral part of the Rockawalkin Ruritan. He was married to Rita Frances Barrow in 1949 and their 65th wedding anniversary was celebrated in November, 2014. Ned was an ardent outdoorsmen, golfer, hunter, and fisherman, and he had a voracious appetite. In addition to his wife his immediate survivors include two sons, Kurt and Eric (wife Tanya) and his grandchildren, Ben, Noah, Molly, Abigale, and Marley. Other family members include Sherri Lynn (Dan and Sarah), Wendy (Dale and Jade), Don (Cathy), Jeff (Jamie), and all of the Barrow and Halstad relatives. He was pre-deceased by his brother Donald and sister-in-law, Virginia. He was an honorable man, good husband and father, and will be sorely missed.
