Frank Lester Meade

Frank Lester Meade, 100, of Salisbury passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at his home. Born March 5, 1915 in Waverly, NY he was the son of the late George Walter and Clara Lincoln Meade. Mr. Meade was a World War II Veteran and served in the Army-Air force for 32 months. He was Secretary-Treasurer of the Glasgow and Davis Trucking Company for twelve years and in 1960 founded his own accounting firm and retired after 20 years. A member of Bethesda United Methodist Church, Mr. Meade served as Treasurer for six years, served on several committees in the church, was a member of the church’s Bible Study Group, and was President of United Methodist Men for two years. He also served as Treasurer of Deer’s Head Center Foundation for six years. He loved listening to music, especially big band and gospel tunes. He was an avid collector of big band memorabilia and his collection was donated to the Indiana University music department for future studies. He also enjoyed tending to his yard, model railroading, and riding his indoor bicycle. He rode over 32,000 miles and never left the house! He is survived by his loving wife of 78 years, Dorothy E. Meade; son, R. Elliott Meade, Sr. and his wife Sharon; grandsons, Robert E. Meade, Jr. and his wife Becky and T. Lincoln Meade and his wife Marnie; step grandson John Rippons; great-grandchildren, Bethany Meade, Brittany Donalds, T.J. Meade, Jr., and Christopher Meade; brother, Lawrence Meade; sister-in-law, Elaine Elliott; and four nieces. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Floyd Meade. The family would like to thank the care-givers of Peninsula Home Care, Austin Home Care, and Coastal Hospice for their loving care during the last three months. A memorial service will be held Friday at 11AM at Bethesda United Methodist Church in Salisbury.
