

Marie K. Hussey, 91, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2017 at her residence. Born January 18, 1926 in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Katherine Merkle Haarlander. Marie was raised in Williamstown and Runnemede, New Jersey from 1930 to 1943. After graduating from Audubon High School she then moved back to Philadelphia. She married William Hussey in 1947, and worked at the Pennsylvania Railroad for seven years. Her husband's career with Nabisco Brands brought them to Salisbury in 1958. After being a stay home mother she then went to work at Hess Apparel for 20 years as a credit manager. She was a volunteer at the Salisbury Elks Lodge and was the Treasurer for the Ladies Auxiliary for a number of years. Marie and William were active members of Faith Lutheran Church and after his death she found a new home with Trinity United Methodist Church. Marie was famous for her "Momma Hussey's Ice Tea", and the love of her family and friends were displayed through her favorite recipes, especially her apple pie. She was also known for her dry wit and quick humor. She is survived by two sons, William Hussey and his wife, Ginny, Robert Hussey and his companion, Linda Lyons; a daughter, Gale Culver; eight grandchildren, Brian Hussey (Amy), Michele Nance (John), Carol Schultz (Frank), Jason Hussey (Amy), Jill Bounds (Colby), Jenna Hussey (Tyler Adkins), Casie Culver, and Chad Culver (Stacy); 12 great- grandchildren, Nathan Hussey, William Hussey, James Nance, Colin Schultz, Aidan Schultz, Addison Schultz, Gavin Hussey, Caroline Hussey, Brooke Bounds, Brynn Bounds, Cole Culver, and Cason Culver; a sister, Katherine "Elsie" Hartley; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Hussey in 1988, a brother, Fred Haarlander, brother-in-law, Chuck Hartley, sister-in-law, Mary Sherlock and her Aunt Betty. The family would like to give a special thanks to Mom Mom Hussey's amazing caregivers and hairdresser, Edna. A funeral service to celebrate Marie's life will be held on Friday, August 18, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at Bounds Funeral Home on East Main Street in Salisbury where friends may call one hour prior to the services. Entombment will follow in Wicomico Memorial Park.
