Merle William Everett passed away on his 92nd birthday, January 4, 2021. He was born in Bayville, New Jersey to George Lewis Everett and Dorothy (nee Bunnell). He lived half of his life in Bayville and Toms River, NJ. Merle graduated from Toms River High School in 1946. He was a carpenter, house builder and craftsman all his life; as well as a Harley Davidson enthusiast, riding his Harley well into his eighties. Later in his adult life he left New Jersey, moved to the eastern shore of Maryland, and bought a farm. Eventually retiring and settling down at 70. Merle loved riding his Harley, NASCAR, woodworking, deer spotting, riding his lawnmower, and being stubborn. He also loved telling stories and helping family members with filling in ancestry blanks. Merle learned through such investigating that his 8th great grandfather was Governor William Maximillian Stone, first governor of Maryland in the 1650’s.
Merle was predeceased by his wife of 31 years, Cora, on December 18, 2020. He is survived by 6 children and 2 step children. Carol Schott (Greg) in Oregon, John Patrick Everett (Desiree) in Virginia, Michael Everett (Kathy) in NJ, James Everett (Jo-Ann) in NJ, John Merle Everett (Joyce) in Arizona, Daryle aka Pan (Carissa) in NC, Melissa Baker in Maryland, Esther (Joanie) in Arizona. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren—Jennifer, Kelly Rae, Abby Lea, Seth, Jonathan, Brittany, Andrew, Lauren, Cody, Harley and Dakota; as well as 15 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at a later date when it is safe for the family to travel safely.
