Billy Ray Calhoun, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather entered eternal rest Monday July 19, 2021 at the age of 82. Born on May 11, 1939 to Elmer I. “Bill” Calhoun and Christine Calhoun in Wimberly, Texas, he now reunites with his parents. He is survived by his children, Christopher R. Calhoun (Janan), Daron L. Calhoun (Jana); siblings Delilah Faye Dunbar (W.L.), Don S. Calhoun; grandchildren: Kristine L. Wahlen, Daron B. Calhoun (Sandra), Emma B. Calhoun, William I. Calhoun, Asa J. Calhoun, Kade K. Calhoun; great-grandchildren Kimberly Flores, Christopher Wahlen-Finley, and Ian A. Calhoun; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Billy worked diligently for 35 years at Kelly AFB and spent many years enjoying the festivals and parties in and around San Antonio with his family and friends. His zest for life, fun-loving nature, and generous heart had such a tremendous impact on so many that his loving presence will be sorely missed.
The family will receive guests with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. at Roy Akers Funeral Home on Friday, August 20, 2021, with an additional Chapel Service on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. and interment to follow at Mt. Sharp Cemetery.
