

Enrique J. Aldrete "Johnny" passed away on October 22, 2024. He was born in San Antonio, Texas to parents Catalina Long Aldrete and Juan Aldrete. Johnny was predeceased by his Wife Blanche Aldrete of 54 years, Parents Catalina and Juan Aldrete, Brothers Armando Long Aldrete, Richard Long Aldrete and Ramon Long Aldrete. He is survived by his two daughters: Sylvia Zepeda (Robert) and Norma "Jeanie" Basolet, Brother: Abraham Aldrete (Rosie), Daughter figure to our Dad, Cindy Eckles and by his long time partner of 10 years Irma Ferdin.Grandchildren: Robert "Bob" Zepeda (Erica), John Zepeda (Candace), Mary Zepeda Cable (Rob) and Anthony Basolet. Nine great grand children: Bobby Zepeda III, Mikah, Marianna and Marcela Zepeda, Robbie, Liam and Cruz Cable, Zarlina and Vincent Basolet. Sister-in-Laws: Norma Navaira (Joe) and Linda Herrera (Jerry). Many loving nieces, nephews, godchildren and a large circle of friends.
Johnny proudly served in the Army and later retired from the Army National Guard after 20+ years of service. He worked and retired from Kelly AFB after 28 years of civil service. He was one of the founding and current members of the St. John the Evangelist Knights of Columbus Council #8302, which has existed for over 50+ years. He served many positions as a 4th Degree Knight including Grand Knight of Council #8302. St. John the Evangelist Knights of Columbus Council #8302 continues to serve the church and its community.
Johnny enjoyed dancing, working on puzzles and gambling at the casinos. He loved traveling to Las Vegas and Wendover, Nevada. Whenever he received free flights and free hotel rooms from Wendover, he would let Irma know immediately to make reservations. Although, his greatest joy was spending his time with family. Whether it be on family vacations, picnics, amusement parks and in his early days fishing.
Johnny will be remembered as a man of quiet strength, whose kindness and willingness to help others touched the lives of all who knew him. We will forever cherish the memories of his kind heart and the influence he had on our lives.
