

Evaristo “Daniel” Vasquez, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather entered into eternal rest on May 20, 2014 at the age of 87. Daniel was born in Waco, Texas on August 24, 1926 to parents Maria Quiroz Vasquez and Juan Vasquez. He will always be remembered for his great examples of love, strength, work ethic, and dedication to his family and friends. He will be profoundly missed. Daniel was preceded in death by his wife Elva with whom he enjoyed 63 years of marriage, his parents, his sisters Maria Consuelo Ramos and Maria Concepcion Flores and his brother Juan Francisco Vasquez. He is survived by daughters Rose Marie Garza and husband Richard, Martha Elva Garcia and husband John, Cynthia Ann Brodsky, Maria Teresa Hooper and husband Bill, Magda Elizabeth Salas and husband Ernest, his sister-in-law Leandra Arce Vasquez as well as 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Dan worked for RC Cola for many years and was known throughout the community of Loma Park as the go to man for providing refreshments for church festivals and other celebrations. After leaving RC Cola, Dan successfully owned and managed Dan’s Vending and Refrigeration for 25 years and several real estate enterprises. Dan’s appreciation and knowledge for music from Big Band to Mariachi was immense and inspired his daughters to love and cherish the importance of music and dancing, as he taught them every step he knew. Elva and Dan were the couple to watch on the dance floor. He also taught his daughters to love watching NFL and college football, NBA and college basketball and baseball. One of Dan’s last forever-to-be remembered quotes was, “I love the whole cotton-picking bunch of you”.
The family will receive friends at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers, 515 N. Main, on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00p.m. A procession will depart the funeral home the following morning May 29, 2014 at 8:30 a.m. for a 9:00 a.m. funeral Mass officiated by Msgr. John Wagner at St. Paul Catholic Church, 350 Sutton Dr. (78228). A Committal Service will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
