Flavio Diaz

He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ignacio Andrade; wife, Victoria S. Diaz; children, Hector, Mary Ann, and baby Diaz.

He is survived by his children: Yolanda Diaz Martinez (Arnoldo), Gilbert S. Diaz (Naomi), Robert S. Diaz (Juanita), Hilda Lawson, Richard Diaz (Alicia), Ruben S. Diaz, 9 grandchildren: Angela M. Bennett (Robert), Arnoldo D. Martinez Jr. (Ericka), Christina Lawson Alhaj Mahmoud (Faud), Priscilla Valot, Christopher Tyler Lawson, Gilbert Diaz, Jr. (Denise), Nathan Diaz (Ralyn), Robbie Diaz, and Brandon Diaz; 12 great-grandchildren: Cydnie Allison Koon (Josef), Cecil Tyler Lawson (Aubrie), Amy Lynn Bennett, Desiree Diaz, Sophia Ann Bennett, Trè Valot, Devin Valot, Alexis Diaz, Isabella Rose Martinez, Anthony Valot, Arnoldo S. Martinez, III, and Rockefellar Chase Alhaj Mahmound, 2 great-great grandchildren: Carson Lawson and Adaline Lawson and his loyal companion: Baby.

Flavio proudly served his country. First as a Sergeant in the US Army during WWII in the Pacific and European Campaigns. Then as a Master Sergeant in the US Air Force Reserves at Kelly Air Force Base.

Flavio enjoyed traveling in his American Clipper RV with his wife and family. He enjoyed driving across the nation to National Parks, visiting family and into many states all the way up into Canada. His passion was fishing, spending many weekend at the beach fishing off the pier, on the jetties or surf fishing. He had an affinity for camping and enjoyed nights on the beach with his wife and loved ones.

Due to restrictions on public gatherings, the visitation for Flavio at Roy Akers Funeral Home – 515 North Main Ave. 78205 – will be limited to only 40 people in the building at a time. There will be a public visitation period on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 from 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM for brief visits with the family. A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 pm in accordance with the limitations. If the building is at its capacity, you will be asked to wait in your vehicle until a space opens. Face coverings are required to be worn at all times. On Wednesday, June 24, 2020, the Funeral Procession will depart at 9:30 AM for a 10:00 AM Funeral Service at Primera Iglesia del Nazareno. A private Interment will take place at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Flavio participated in Honor Flight SA#08 May 2018 as a WWII veteran for a trip of a lifetime dedicated to our veterans.
