Gilbert Mancillas, born in San Antonio, Texas, went to be with the Lord on September 5, 2015 at the age of 60. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eluterio and Magdalena Mancillas, brothers; Pedro and Tomas, sister; Aurora, father-in-law; Francisco Alcala, mother-in-law; Felicita Alcala, brothers-in-law; Jesse Alcala, Johnny Longoria, and Pete L. Villarreal Jr. He is survived by his wife, Janie Mancillas, sons; Gino Gilbert and Giovanni Isai, siblings; Jesse, Lucy Mancillas, Emma Pommerening (Larry), Tillie Andrade (Anthony). In his free time, Gilbert enjoyed listening to music and playing his instruments such as the trombone and saxophone. He also enjoyed watching the Cowboys play, being a diehard fan. A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at Roy Akers Funeral Home, 515 N. Main Ave. from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A procession will depart the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. for a 12:00 p.m. Mass at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with military honors.
