James Vargas Rios of San Antonio Texas left for his eternal home on May 3rd, 2022 at the age of 68. Born in Oscoda Michigan to his mother, Amelia Casanova Vargas, and father Porfirio Dominguez Rios on December 20th, 1953.
Father to a blended family, he served in the US Army for four years, stationed at Baumholder Germany in the late 1970’s. After serving in the Army, he went on to become a butcher at HEB for several years, later retiring. He was a man with a big heart, always willing to help those in need. He wasn’t a perfect man, but to those who knew him, he was a good man ready to greet you with a warm smile and open heart.
Brother to nine siblings, and father to three children, he will be missed for all that he did and tried to do. His love of music and a good bar-b-que always brought the family together.
He is reunited in eternity with his father Porfirio D Rios, and brothers Albert Rios, Porfirio V Rios & Louis V Rios. He is survived by his mother Amelia, brother Mario V Rios, sisters Elizabeth Alva, Rosemary Gonzales, Debra Jean Mercado, Carol Ann Jung, & Jo Ann Moore. He is also survived by his daughters Michelle Rios, Lydia Britton, and his son James E Rios. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Mariah Sosa, Christian Cruz, Elisha Reyes, Ivan Delacruz & Rosalee Britton, and great-grandchildren: Nicolas “Niko” Josue Sosa, & Mia Kamila Sosa.
He will be remembered fondly by numerous nieces & nephews, and countless friends.
In honor of our father, please play some Oldies, grill some bbq, and raise a Bud Light in tribute.
