Jimmy (Jim) Moreno (d. May 20, 2018) was born March 5, 1934 in Newgulf, Texas to Julio and Josefa Moreno. He was raised a man of strong faith in a lifelong Presbyterian family of 9 children. Jimmy was no stranger to hard work and was especially smart in math. He even skipped the 4th grade and as the youngest in his class, he had to sit on books to see the chalkboard.
In May 1951 Jimmy graduated from Boling High School in Boling, Texas and then attended Wharton County Junior College, graduating in 1953. In June of 1954, he joined the Army, and after basic training at Fort Bliss, (El Paso, Texas), was stationed at a Nike Surface to Air Missile site in South Lincoln, Massachusetts and was honorably discharged and in September of 1957. He enrolled at Texas A&I University in Kingsville, Texas and graduated in 1960 with a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Economics with a double minor in History and Math.
In 1961, he met Elizabeth Ruth (Betty) Rodriguez at Gethsemane Presbyterian church and after 5 months, they married in Fort Worth, Texas. He worked for General Dynamics employed as a Flight Control Specialist and worked in Electronics. In San Antonio, he later worked for Kelly Air Force Base contracting for the Federal Government - United States Air Force Civil Service, working in Procurement as well as serving in the Small Business Administration as a Business Development Specialist, Contracting Officer and was 2nd in charge of the Minority Business Division as a Loan Servicing Officer. He retired in September 1992 one week before his wife Betty of nearly 31 years passed away.
Hobbies and interests included active church work and volunteering with the House of Neighborly Service. A lifelong golfer, he could often be heard saying “its a beautiful day for playing golf” and then he wouldn’t. He participated in both PTA (as President) and Band Boosters when his kids were in school. He took up karate in his 50’s and attaining the rank of brown belt. He loved math and often solved problems in the air. Jimmy enjoyed airplanes, old cars, crossword puzzles, walking his dogs, playing dominoes, and vacationing with family. He loved music, and his favorite was Trio Los Panchos, along with country gospel music. Jimmy had a great sense of humor, loved to smile, joke around, spend time with his siblings and friends and loved his family dearly. He was especially proud that the extended Moreno family has continuously met for over 50 years for their annual family reunions.
He is survived by his son Abraham Nathan (Julie) Moreno of Fort Worth and daughter, Margot Moreno (Doug) Williamson of Fort Worth, brothers, Tony (Gloria) Moreno of Austin, Ben (Marie) Moreno of Kyle, sisters-in-law Ernestine Moreno of Texas City, Alice Moreno of San Antonio, Mary Moreno also of San Antonio, brother-in-law Jacinto Castro of Buda, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service at Gethsemane Presbyterian Church, 960 West Bluff Street, Fort Worth, TX 76102 and Internment at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery are yet to be scheduled.
