Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Louis O. Llanes passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday May 3, 2012, at the age of 93. Louis was born August 9, 1918 in San Antonio where he married the love of his life, Concepcion. Together they shared 59 years of marriage. Louis is a veteran of WWII and retired from Kelly AFB after 30 years. He leaves a legacy of love to all those who knew him. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. He will always be in our hearts and missed more than words can express.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Connie, son Louis and daughter Rachel. He is survived by his sister Cruz Cortez, his six children and their spouses; Rudy (Gina) Llanes, Linda (Gabriel) Lira, Robert (Dora) Llanes, Rebecca (Richard) Pacheco, Ruth Llanes and Ricardo (Patricia) Llanes, and Son-in-law Joe Villareal; 17 grandchildren and their spouses, Annie (Greg) Smith, Louie (Jane) Llanes, Rudy (Laurie) Llanes, Susanne (Martin) Picon, Michelle (Guy) Gomez, Robert (Rachel) Llanes, Gabriel III (Adria) Lira, Ruben (Erin) Llanes, Melissa (Leo) Reyna, Richard (Leslie) Pacheco, Steven (Justine) Pacheco, Michael (Felipa) Lira, Patricia Llanes, Sara Llanes, Alex Angulo, William Llanes and Matthew Llanes; 15 great-grandchildren, Wesley Llanes, Chase Llanes, Allison Picon, Kaitlyn Picon, Jacqueline Picon, Carissa Lira, Evelyn Lira, L J Llanes, Elisa Llanes, Samuel Llanes, Madeline Lira, Liam Reyna, David Pacheco, Matthew Lira, Noah Pacheco, and 4 on-the-way, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to acknowledge the professionals of Odyssey Hospice for their kind help, specifically Tammy (RN), Josie (CNA), Judy (S.W.), Matthew (Chaplain) and Charlene. In addition, a special thank you to Augie Tiez (of Hospice Source) and to Luisa Chavez and Alma Sepulveda for assisting with his care.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 9 at 6pm with a Prayer service at 7pm and Funeral service on Thursday, May 10 at 10am at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers.
