Louis Jesse Sengele, a devoted husband, beloved father, proud grandfather, faithful churchgoer, and cherished friend, entered eternal rest on May 13, 2025, at the age of 98. He was born on February 8, 1927, in San Antonio, Texas, to Louis August Sengele and Estelle Brannon Sengele.
In his early years, Louis served in the United States Navy. Though military life wasn’t where he found his calling, he carried a quiet pride in having answered the call to serve his country.
What truly defined Louis’s life was his unwavering faith. A longtime and devoted member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, he was a familiar face in the pews, attending Mass faithfully and participating in parish life with deep humility and devotion. His spiritual life was central to who he was—guiding his values, shaping his kindness, and grounding his family.
Professionally, Louis dedicated many years to City Public Services, where he was a proud member of the Kilowatts Club and known for his strong work ethic and warm camaraderie.
Outside of work and church, Louis enjoyed life’s simple joys—fishing, building model railroad trains, woodworking, and always finding something to fix or improve around the house. He was a true craftsman and a self-taught home improver whose skills were matched only by his patience.
Louis now rejoins in heaven his beloved wife of 59 years, Mary Louise Sengele; his parents, Louis August and Estelle Sengele; his sisters, Constance Louise Flores and Shirley Estelle Knapp; and his son-in-law, Blake Skinnell.
He leaves behind a loving legacy through his children: Kathleen Ann Keene (David), Louis James Sengele (Cindy), Diane Marie Miller (Terry), Robert Anthony Sengele (Vicki), Michael Andrew Sengele (Tracey), and Mary Elizabeth Skinnell (Late husband; Blake). He was also the proud grandfather of 17 grandchildren and great-grandfather to 21 great-grandchildren, who he cherished deeply.
Louis’s life was one of quiet faith, steady love, and deep devotion to family and God. His memory will be a lasting blessing to all who knew him.
