Ora Lee Arizmendi, 78, entered her heavenly home on May 18, 2024, with loved ones by her side. She was a native of San Antonio, TX; and was born to the late David Richard and Lillian (Guerrero) Farias in San Antonio, TX on July 22, 1945.
Ora, lovingly known as “Grams” & “Orie”, was known for her strength, sweetness, love, compassion, and will to live life and never give up. She was a fighter until the end and leaves an everlasting imprint on those she knew and loved.
Orie attended Burbank High School, and was a faithful Burbank Bulldogs, Dallas Cowboys, and San Antonio Spurs fan. She had a loving and giving heart and was known for her everlasting generosity. She was a supporter in her children and grandchildren, and was their biggest encourager in all they did. She was a member of the Alamo Area Stroke Support Group, where she loved them just like her family, and looked forward to her weekly outings with them. Orie maneuvered through life’s challenges gracefully and never let her medical condition stop her from living life to the fullest. She loved going to the movies, spending time with her family, loved animals (especially dogs), socializing and making friends, and enchiladas were her favorite food. Orie was saved, driven by faith, and believed in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a member of Freedom a Church for all People, and attended until her health began to decline.
Her presence will be missed dearly, but there is solace knowing she is rejoicing in the arms of our Lord and the dearly beloved whom she has reunited with.
Orie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Axel Armando Arizmendi; son, Joe Henry Cortez; siblings: Linda Rose Garza, Jose S. Fonseca Sr., Beatrice Torres, Arturo Fonseca, Rudy Fonseca; grandson, Adam Dylan Gilligan; and step-father, David Fonseca.
