Richard Philip Reyes, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on January 5, 2026, at the age of 56. He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Lisa Reyes. Richard is survived by his children: Catharina Reyes (Josua Deal), Krisalyn Spencer, Stephanie Rivera (AT Rivera), Richard P. Reyes (Hazel Casas), and Joshua Reyes. He is also survived by his parents, Richard C. Reyes and Beatrice Reyes; his siblings, Rudy Reyes (Lisa Reyes) and Suzanne Reyes; his cherished grandchildren: Connor, Ella’Mae, Scarlett, Hailey, Noah, Oliver, Labrith, Atticus, and Moses; and his many nieces and nephews.
Richard loved big and lived big. You could often find him barbecuing, rain or shine, and spending quiet days fishing. He was a whiskey connoisseur and a cigar aficionado. A talented musician and master craftsman, he poured heart and soul into everything he created. A lifelong fan of the San Antonio Spurs and the Dallas Cowboys, his loyalty ran deep, just like his love for family and friends.
Richard received the greatest joy from being a dedicated father and active community member. Whether he was driving the semi truck for the Taft High School Band Boosters, or dressing up as Santa for nursing homes, and even building a full functioning carnival for the neighborhood Halloween celebrations, he worked to bring smiles to all those around him. His annual Easter celebrations at OP Schnabel Park became a crowd favorite every year, boasting amazing bbq, lots of laughs, late night camp fires, games, music, stories and beautiful memories. For over 20 years, he served his family and community as a worship leader and a youth pastor, both in his father’s ministry and other churches throughout Texas. As the owner of a small business, Reyes Tile, he found a creative outlet making beautiful flooring for his customers, taking great pride in each masterpiece. Richard’s time in healthcare as Director of Operations and Maintenance, ensured a safe and reliable facility for thousands of Senior residents throughout a span of over 10 years across 3 Senior communities. His giving spirit and generosity meant that he never failed to answer the call to meet the needs of his residents, nor anyone who asked for his support.
Above all, Richard leaves behind a powerful legacy of love, laughter, and devotion that will live on in everyone who knew him.
