Roger Vargas

Roger was one of the greats! He was such a hard worker. His family NEVER went without. He sacrificed to make sure his family always had what they needed. He was always there for not only his family, but for EVERYONE. He was a selfless man! If he had it, it was yours!

Wherever he worked and whatever he did, he did his absolute best. He was a roofer, machinist and sheet metal specialist by trade. He was able to figure measurements in his head. His employers valued him, his work ethic and talents tremendously. They always spoke highly of him.

Roger knew how to play hard too. He enjoyed hanging out with friends and coworkers for a cold few after work. Oh and he always had to stop for those scratch offs on the way home! He also enjoyed an occasional afternoon out fishing. Not to mention those trips to Las Vegas and other various casinos!

In his later years, he became very sensitive. He didn’t like to see his family hurt or crying. He’d say, ‘What’s the matter? Don’t cry!’ Then he’d start crying. He would want his family to be happy and have a gran fiesta!

He is preceded by his mother and father, Sarah Tremillo and Vicente F. Vargas; his brothers, Vincent Vargas Jr., Juan Tremillo, and Gilbert Tremillo; and his daughter, Monica Michelle Vargas.

He is survived by his wife Graciela Vargas; his siblings, Louis Gonzalez, Alice Klein, Esther Mendoza, Danny Tremillo, Benny Tremillo, Jacinto Tremillo, Virginia Vargas, Connie Vargas; his step-mother, Consuelo Vargas; his daughters, Veronica B. Neal (husband Russell), Lynette V. Rodriguez (husband Cleto); his son, Vincent P. Vargas; as well as 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

A visitation for Roger will be held Tuesday, August 24, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers, 515 North Main Ave, San Antonio, TX 78205. The funeral service will be Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers, 515 North Main Ave, San Antonio, TX 78205 with graveside to follow at San Fernando #3 Cemetery, 1735 Cupples Rd, San Antonio, TX 78226.
