Samuel A. Martinez

Samuel A. Martinez, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, was called home by the Lord, on Friday March 8, 2013 at the age of 93. He was born in Laredo Texas, to parents, Samuel Tamez and Victoria Hernandez, on February 4, 1920. Samuel proudly served our country in the United States Army. He will always be remembered for the love and dedication he had for his family and will be deeply missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 64 years, Herminia E. Martinez, and great-granddaughter, Soleil Saldaña. He is survived by his children, Gloria M. Saldaña, Alice Siller and her husband Robert, Mario Martinez and wife Irma; grandchildren, Mario Martinez Jr. and his wife Elizabeth, Michael Martinez and his wife Selena, Jennifer Martinez, Jesse Scott Saldaña and his wife Melissa H., Robert Siller Jr. and his wife Audrey, Michele Ann Siller and her husband Gilbert; great-grandchildren, Alejandra Esparza, Carolina Martinez. Brooklyn Martinez, Madelyn Martinez, Samuel J. Martinez, Jesse Scott Saldaña Jr., Jaysun Sean Saldaña, Jillyan Starr Saldaña, Tristan Siller, Nevaeh De La Fuente; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. The family will receive friends at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers, 515 N. Main, on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A procession will depart the funeral home the following morning, Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at 9:30 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. John Berchmans Catholic Church, 1147 Cupples Road.
