Antonio Garza

Harlingen, TX- Tony Garza (Tanaka) went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 11, 2022 after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Tony was born and raised in Rio Hondo, TX where he attended RHISD and married the love of his life, Sylvia Gonzales, on Nov. 12, 1983.

Tony Worked 27 years as a manager for AutoZone, 8 years as a manager with O’Reilly, and his final year as a maintenance supervisor for Tropic Winds.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents Rita Rodriguez Garza and Calixto Garza, his brothers Oscar Torres (†Ludim) and Guadalupe (Picky) Torres, his brother-in-law Joel Yanez, his in-laws Ernesto Gonzales and Rosa C. Gonzales.

Tony is survived by his wife of 38 years Sylvia Gonzales Garza, daughter Jennifer Garza (Christian Peralta), grandsons Maximilian Peralta and Damian Peralta, Goddaughters Lisa Marie Hatfield and Melody Rae Garcia, his sisters Viola Torres and Peggy Yanez, his brothers-in-law Juan Gonzales (Flora), Ernest Gonzales Jr. (Lupita) and Leo Gonzales, his sisters-in-law Viola Gonzalez (Rene), Gloria Garcia (Samuel) and Sylvia Torres, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, co-workers, church family, and Tropic Winds Community.

Tony will be greatly missed by all those who knew him

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 16, 2022 from 2pm-10pm at Funeraria Del Angel Mont Meta. A prayer service will begin at 7 pm, Friday evening with Pastor Jorge Sotomayor.

A church service will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at Iglesia Bautista Los Vecinos in Harlingen, TX at 10 AM then will be a graveside service and intermittent will take place at Mont Meta Memorial Park.

Pallbearers taking Tony to his eternal resting place are Armando Carmona, Rolando (Manguera) Muniz, Christian Peralta, Joe Prado, Angel Zuvieta, and Albert Yanez.

Honorary Pallbearers are Juan Gonzales, Ernesto Gonzales Jr, Leo Gonzales, Samuel Garcia, and Eloy Garcia.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Funeraria Del Angel Mont Meta.
