

He was employed at Levi Strauss for over 30 years where he also served as a member of the softball team and coached women’s softball for 10 years. He was employed for 5 years at South Texas ISD as a teacher assistant. He was a lifetime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in San Benito and served as a member of the Knights of Columbus. Guadalupe was a devoted fan of the San Benito Greyhounds and can be remembered for his infamous “Go Hounds” cheer after every game.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Juan Martinez, sister, Hilda Gonzales, and brother in-law Raul “Boat” Gonzales.
Guadalupe is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Lydia Martinez; daughter, Marie Yvette (Keith) Gasca; step-son Leonardo Robles (Elodia Canas); sisters, Jesusita Martinez and Delia Martinez; granddaughters Jasia (Gabriel) Gasca-Reckinger and Kirstin Robles; nephew and niece Raul Gonzales and Cassandra Gonzales; and other relatives.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 4, 2026 at 1 p.m. - 9 p.m., with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m., at Funeraria Del Angel Funeral Mont Meta Home in San Benito, Texas.
Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church celebrated by Father François. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito, Texas.
Per Guadalupe’s wishes, we kindly ask that any guest wear purple and gold, the official colors of the mighty Greyhounds.
