Juana, Janie, or “Juanita,” to those who loved her, was born in Cerritos, San Luis Potosí, Mexico. The 3rd of 7 children, she often shared stories of playing with her siblings and cousins in the nearby foothills. Though she moved to the U.S. at the age of 10, she never forgot her “Mexico, lindo y querido.” She was a graduate of San Benito High School Class of 1971, where she forged friendships that lasted the rest of her life. Janie was a numbers wiz, who made a lifelong career of bookkeeping and finance.
A devoted mother, she dedicated her life to raising her daughters, with love and resilience. She was proud of her Mexican heritage and made sure her daughters were too. She taught them to be proud of where they come from - of their roots, their traditions, and their culture. Strongly independent, she could prepare a delicious meal as expertly as she could change a spark plug. She had a gift for turning ordinary moments into lasting memories…the love was in the details with Juanita. She loved traveling, surprises, and throwing parties for others but her greatest joy was spending time with her daughters, grandchildren, and family.
Juana is survived by her 4 daughters: Veronica Hernandez (Jorge), Delicia Rendon, Mariza Ybarra (Andrew), and Adriana Rendon, 4 grandchildren: Angelisa, Andres, Alejandro “Nico” and Aaron, and 1 great grandson. She is also survived by her sisters Carmen Banda (+Jose) and Lollie Ramirez-Bennett (Dave) and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her mother: Dionicia Barron Ramirez, father: Silvestre Torres DeAlva, step-father: Ernesto Ramirez, former spouse: Hilario Rendon, Jr. and siblings Sylvestre (Beto), Santa (Chata), Raul, and Theresita Barron.
Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers: Alejandro Ybarra, Andres Rendon, Aaron Hernandez, Raul Banda, Ricardo Rodriguez, Sergio Rodriguez, Marco Barron, Eric Barron, Andrew Ybarra, Pedro Pedraza, Jose Vargas.
Juanita leaves behind a legacy of strength and love, along with memories of special moments and shared meals. She will be missed tremendously.
