Her family, friends, colleagues, and people that crossed her path will remember Carole as a caring and generous mother and friend who influenced others to pursue their dreams, and who taught us all to live life to the fullest with passion and a smile.
Carole was born in Glens Falls, New York on September 23, 1940 to Royal and Marion (Stoyanowski) Knowles. She graduated from Alfred State Technical Institute in 1960 and moved to Rochester, New York to work for Eastman Kodak. In 1964 she married the love of her life, James William Brusa. In 1981, they moved their family to Marietta, Georgia. Carole went to work for the Weather Channel where she managed the travel arrangements for the on-air meteorologists and executives, where she worked for 22 years until her retirement. Soon after retirement, she dedicated more of her time to her church (Roswell United Methodist Church) and strengthened her faith with the Lord.
Her passions included: traveling, tracing her ancestry (Ireland, Scotland and Mohican Indian lineage), cooking, watching the blue birds, playing bunco and tending to her rose garden. But most of all, she loved spending time with her family. She was happiest at the beach with her feet in the sand and watching her grand kids play in the waves and collecting shells.
Carole’s love of music was the soundtrack of her life. An avid piano player in high school and college, she toured with choirs and quartets. She also loved to sing and was an active member of the Roswell United Methodist Church Choir. Carole loved classical and jazz music, as well as Broadway shows, and on occasion Zydeco.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Jim, and her brother Steve. She is survived by her daughter Susan Darrow and her husband David (Austin, TX), her son Peter Brusa and his wife Ginger (Marietta, GA), and her two grandchildren Alex Darrow and Avery Brusa, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held for Carole on Thursday, November 21st at 1:00 pm at Roswell United Methodist Church - at the Church Chapel located on 814 Mimosa Blvd, Roswell, GA. The memorial service will be followed by a visitation. The family requests that any donations be made to the cancer organization of your choice in honor of Carole Knowles Brusa.
