David Harrison was born in Pittsburg, PA to Marie and Herbert Harrison. He attended undergraduate school at Southern Methodist University where he earned a degree in Business Administration. He went on to earn his MBA at Santa Clara University and a MBA extension at Harvard University. He married his wife and best friend Gay Sanders on March 24, 1962 in Dallas, Texas after they met while both attending SMU.
For 43 years, he worked in the electrical manufacturing industry and retired as Vice President/General manager of Leviton, Lighting Controls Division. Dave could not sit still for very long and he went back to work spearheading the formation of another controls division for Cooper Industries, Cooper Controls. He retired a second time as Vice President/General Manager for Cooper. With his passion for travel and his inability to stay retired, he went back to work as a travel agent and not only loved it but thrived at it as well.
Dave’s career activities included National Board of Directors, SMU Alumni Association Dallas, Texas; President of SMU Alumni Association for the state of Georgia; Board of Governors, National Electrical Manufacturing Association, Lighting Section; Founding member and President of the Greater Atlanta Electric League.
He was a member of the Atlanta Country Club since 1972 where he served on the Board of Directors as Membership Chairman.
Dave had a passion for life but in particular for travel, art and mentoring people. He was known in business for fighting harder for the people who worked under him than he did himself. Dave and Gay traveled the world whenever they could. Some of his favorite places were Grindelwald, Switzerland, Iguazu Falls, Rio Di Janeiro Brazil and Egypt.
Dave was preceded in death by his father, Herbert and his mother Marie. He is survived by his wife Gay Harrison, daughter Julie Harrison Cavalli, his son in law David Cavalli his granddaughter Shelby Grace Cavalli and several cousins.
