Mrs. Dorothy Schwarz Holland

Dorothy Schwarz Holland, 94, of Sandy Springs, GA, passed away peacefully February 19, 2010 at Altus Healthcare and Hospice after a short illness. Dorothy was born in Meriden, Connecticut, February 8, 1916. She was married to the late Oscar D. Holland of Providence, Rhode Island for fifty-seven years. The family moved to Sandy Springs in 1956 and, for a long time, resided in that community. Dorothy was a dedicated mother and wonderful homemaker to her husband and three children. She was a charter member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Atlanta and her faith was an integral part of her life. Dorothy enjoyed many long time friends and was a remarkable letter writer and a voracious reader. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Donaldson of Roswell, her twin sons Charles W. Holland of Birmingham Alabama, and Donald O. Holland of Portland, Oregon, four grandchildren, Tom Donaldson, Leigh Donaldson, Kelly Vrtis and Lindsay Warford along with 6 great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Sandy Springs Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the Memorial Service at Sandy Springs Chapel, 136 Mt. Vernon Hwy., Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
