

Dorothy Helen Stewman, aged 92 died peacefully on August 7, 2015 at her home in Sandy Springs surrounded by family and friends. Dorothy was born September 25, 1922 in Buford, Georgia, the daughter of J.H. and Evelyn McMurray. With her beloved husband of 70 years, Loy, Dorothy took great delight in her family of four sons, nine grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren. She thoroughly enjoyed preparing and hosting family meals where her love and nurturing spirit always made “Grandmom’s” home the favorite destination. Her Christian faith and strong sense of service was lived out as a long standing member of Dunwoody Baptist Church. She especially enjoyed the friendships with the members of her Sunday School class. She leaves a great Christian legacy to her family. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, son, Jerry, infant daughter, Susan, as well as her three sisters, and three brothers. She is survived by three sons and their wives; Paul and Sandy of Charlotte, N.C., Victor and Janet of Madison, Ga., and Steve and Toni of Conyers, Ga. in addition to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. There will be a gathering of friends and family at Sandy Springs Chapel at 11:30 a.m., Monday, August 10, 2015, followed by a graveside service at Arlington Memorial Park at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention (IMB), P.O.
