

NOTE CHANGE OF DATE OF SERVICES Evelyn Parker Hurst of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away on November 29, 2017 at the age of 97. Born on December 23, 1919 in Dublin, Georgia, to Laurie Lafayette Parker and Pearl Graham Parker, Mrs. Hurst moved with her family to Macon, Ga. where she spent her formative years as one of five children.
On December 14, 1941, Mrs. Hurst married Stanford Brewster Hurst of Macon. They enjoyed 50 years of marriage until his death on June 30, 1992.
Having moved to Atlanta with her family in 1951, Mrs. Hurst became an active member of Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church in Buckhead. After 18 years there, Mrs. Hurst and her husband joined with other couples from the church to establish Metropolitan Baptist Church as charter members. She was the last surviving charter member of the church that was formed 48 years ago. Mrs. Hurst’s deep Christian faith was a hallmark of her life, along with her warm love for and steadfast devotion to her family.
Mrs. Hurst is survived by her daughter, Candace Hurst Bold, her grandson, Fredric J. Bold, Jr., his wife, Robyn Greene Bold, and her great-granddaughters, Abigail Bold and Caroline Bold. Mrs. Hurst is also survived by treasured nieces and nephews whom she thought of as her children.
The visitation for Mrs. Hurst will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at 9:00 a.m. at Metropolitan Baptist Church, 4795 Peachtree Dunwoody Road, Sandy Springs, Georgia 30342. The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation and begin at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Following the funeral service, Mrs. Hurst will be buried alongside her husband and other family members at Riverside Cemetery, 1301 Riverside Drive, Macon, Georgia 31201.
Sandy Springs Chapel, 136 Mount Vernon Highway, Atlanta, GA 30328, is in charge of the arrangements and will receive flowers in memory of Mrs. Hurst.
