Mrs. Janine F. Bickerman

She graduated from high school in 1970 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from Iowa State University. In 1992, she married Bob Bickerman, with whom she shared 34 years of marriage.

Janine dedicated her professional life to helping others as a registered dietitian specializing in diabetes education. She was deeply committed to supporting patients and their families and was an active member of the American Association of Diabetes Educators. She also served on the board of the American Diabetes Association, reflecting her passion for advocacy and education.

Outside of her career, Janine embraced life with curiosity and joy. She dearly loved her dogs, Portia and Abby, and found great happiness in the outdoors. An avid gardener, she took pride in her yard and delighted in watching birds visit her backyard feeder. She enjoyed playing tennis and was always eager to learn new activities, including pickleball. Janine also loved cooking and generously shared her recipes and knowledge with others.

Travel was another great joy in Janine’s life. She especially cherished trips to New York with her husband, Bob, where highlights included attending the U.S. Open and enjoying Broadway shows. Visiting family and friends and experiencing new places were always among her favorite pursuits.

Janine was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Ellen (Brechtel) Freeman; her beloved sister, Lynn Freeman; and her brother, Kevin Freeman.

She is survived by her husband, Bob; her daughters, Jodi Anderson and Shari Bickerman; her grandson, Tanner Anderson; her sisters, Sharon Schwab (Orlin) and Patrice Alexander (Greg); her brother, Brian Freeman; her nieces, Angela, Melissa, Tory, and Erica; her nephews, Darin, Brenton, Ben, Ryan, and Jordan; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Sandy Springs Chapel, 136 Mt. Vernon Hwy., Sandy Springs, GA 30328. Interment will take place at Arlington Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Janine’s memory to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, American Diabetes Association, or Guiding Eyes for the Blind.
