Born on June 10, 1958, Jeff attended Rogersville High School in Tennessee and was a student at the University of Tennessee. An avid Vols fan, Jeff also loved the Atlanta Braves and playing Fantasy Baseball. He enjoyed reading, researching family genealogy, and watching horror movies. He was always on a quest for the best Reuben sandwich.
A Bruce Springsteen fan, Jeff was quick to laugh and loved to travel—but most of all, as best described by his wife, “Jeff was just a loving man who loved his family.” His favorite things to do were watching his daughter play sports and watching his son perform in plays. He was a proud dad who encouraged his children to pursue their dreams, never give up on their passions, and always be true to themselves.
After retiring, Jeff took joy in preparing dinner for his wife every day. He always had dinner promptly ready at 6:00 p.m., just after Carol ended her workday. Jeff was a good friend, a caring dad, a devoted husband, and a thoughtful son. He will be greatly missed by many who knew him.
Immediate survivors include his wife of 31 years, Carol Martin Hagy of Marietta, Georgia; children, Michael Martin Jones (Anna) of Portland, Oregon, and Layne Alyssa Hagy (Jesse Johnson) of Chattanooga, Tennessee; two loving grandchildren; mother, Sharon Hagy of Bristol, Tennessee; siblings, Franklin (Kimberly) Hagy and Scott (Kristine) Hagy; and several very special nieces and nephews.
Jeff was preceded in death by his father, Robert Gail Hagy, Jr., and by his grandparents, Robert Gail Hagy, Mary Lee (Frye) Hagy, and Trula (Green) Arnold.
The family will receive friends at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Oakley-Cook Funeral Home, 2223 Volunteer Parkway, Bristol, TN, with services immediately following at noon.
Interment will follow the services at Glenwood Cemetery, 839 Bluff City Hwy, Bristol, TN.
