Georgia was the second child and daughter of Edwin and Emma (Heupel) Staiger and raised on their family farm just outside of Hebron, ND. Her calling to nursing came at a young age and in 1960; she graduated from nursing school in Bismarck, ND, beginning a 60-year nursing career, which included 37 years and Community Memorial Hospital in the PACU.
She married Harold Douglas Jett in 1964 and the family, which now included two daughter, Pamela and Shelly, moved to Santa Paula, CA in 1967 and in 1968 Harold passed away making her a widow and single mother at the age of 29. Being a young widow, she joined Parents without Partners and enjoyed their many activities, especially their dances. She loved music and dancing. In 1976, she bought her home in Santa Paula and that is where she resided until her death. She was extremely proud of her home and showed her pride in her yard as she loved to garden, growing many different plants, flowers, and vegetables. Her tomatoes were the absolute best! And her love for and pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was obvious as they were all she spoke of. She was a fabulous cook and loved to prepare a good meal to share with anyone and everyone. It was something we all looked forward to when coming to Grandma's house.
Her faith in Jesus was steadfast and apparent. She was a 55-year member of Santa Paula First Baptist Church (now Catalyst). Her servant's heart was evident in her many years teaching Sunday school, VBS, preparing meals as a deaconess, hosting missionaries in her own home, there was no end to her kindness and graciousness.
She leaves behind her daughters, Pamela (Patrick) Kennedy and Shelly (Randy) Davis; granddaughters, Megan (Mando) Venegas, Kaitlyn (Jason) Sipes, Jennifer (Grant) Grunwald; grandsons, Stephen (Elyce) Davis, Jonathan Davis, and Thomas Davis and his fiancé Cheryl; great-grandchildren, Jared, Ryan, Ryleigh, Zachariah, Brooklynn, Madison, Georgia (her namesake), Journey, Easton, Harper, and Vincent. Her brother Ron (Diane), many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
Her family wishes to thank her many physicians and nurses, particularly Dr. Charles Murphy, Dr. Susan Chang, the CCU staff at CMH, the SPA, and Davita Santa Paula.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Operation Christmas Child in her honor.
Services will be held at 11am on Monday, November 7th at Catalyst Church, 241 N. Mill St., Santa Paula, CA with a fellowship time to follow.
