Marina O. Urias, a beloved matriarch of Santa Paula, California, passed away peacefully at her home on August 11. She was a woman of elegance and grace, born on September 20 to Jesus and Maria A. Osuna in Los Angeles, California. Marina’s vibrant spirit and impeccable style were known to all; she could wear a cowboy hat like no other. A true daughter of Santa Paula, Marina cherished her hometown. Her dedication was evident in her many years of participation in the CROP Walk and Relay for Life, a testament to her strength as a cancer survivor. Her greatest joy was cheering on her family as a number one Santa Paula Cardinal fan, watching three generations play football, baseball, basketball, and other sports at Santa Paula High School and in Little League.
Marina was a faithful member of El Buen Pastor United Methodist Church, where she found deep community and solace. She treasured moments spent with her family at holiday gatherings and enjoyed sharing meals at La Cabaña Restaurant. Though she spent time in Ventura and Sacramento, her heart always remained in Santa Paula.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alfonso C. Urias, and her beloved siblings Robert Arias, Ann O. Reyes, Henry A. Osuna, Alfred A. (Feruta) Osuna, Rudy A. Osuna, and Samuel (Larry) Osuna.
Marina’s legacy of love lives on through her children: Elizabeth Nava, Steve Urias (Rachel), Christina Urias (Jesse Ornelas), David Urias (Diane), and Benjamin Urias. She also leaves behind a special grandson, Jess Morua (Nora), who she and her husband raised as their own. She is survived by her loving brothers, Frank A. Osuna and Ben A. Osuna.
A cherished grandmother to Michael Nava (Aracely), Michael Urias, Kaylie Urias, Jesse Ray Ornelas, Priscilla Bowen (Mike), Sylvia Ortega (Oscar), Nicole Albillar, and Arthur Enriquez; a great-grandmother to Ryanna, Jessie, Seidy, and Julian Morua, Vincent and Hope Nava, Zion Urias, and Amelia and Sofia Ortega; and a great-great-grandmother to Adrianna Morua. She will be dearly missed by her many nieces and nephews from the Osuna and Urias families.
The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to Nurses Lindsay and Diego of Assisted Home Hospice and Dr. Sherilyn Wheaton of Primary Medical Group for their compassionate care of Marina. A special thank you to cousins Pruney and Debbie for their cards and continuous kindness.
