On Wednesday, the 20th of January 2021, our king left this earth. Santiago B. Del Rio, Husband of Mary Ellen Del Rio, Dad to Valeri, Michael, Rosie, Cynthia, Rachel, Laurie, Richard, and family dog, Faith Del Rio, Brother to Rudy Del Rio of Bend Oregon, Grandfather to 13 plus 1 grand dog, Great Grandfather to 26 and Uncle to many nieces and nephews who he loved as his own.
Dad was born on December 5th, 1929 (which became a national holiday for his family) to the union of Santiago Del Rio and Conception Becerra. Dad enlisted and served in the United States Army and upon his return met our mom. He worked 40 years at Port Hueneme Naval Base and after retiring worked part-time at K-Mart. Dad lived his life as a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather.
He was a man of many trades. Dad could fix anything, but will never be able to fix our broken hearts. Dad enjoyed going to Popeyes, Burger King (for his ice cream cones), and any place that had a simple, delicious meal. He also enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune every night, Dateline (where his grandson Jeff Del Rio would call and remind him it was on), and he especially loved his Bonzais. He had a sense of humor, always laughing and getting everyone to laugh with him (which would annoy Mom). Dad's life was a wonderful life and it will be carried in our hearts forever. He will now be joined with many family members who have gone before him.
