Socorro Garcia Campos was born February 2, 1935 in Vicente Guerrero, Durango, Mexico. At the age of 24, she moved to Santa Paula with her family and has lived here ever since.
Socorro was a loving, caring and hard-working single parent to her only daughter Maria. She worked many years as a lemon grader for Ventura Pacific Company before retiring in 2000. In her spare time, she enjoyed listening to music, watching her Mexican soaps (novelas) and soccer games (futbol) especially when Mexico was playing, but her overall love was with her grandchildren Patty and Martin, who were the jewel in her eyes.
She is preceded in death by her parents Juan and Manuela Campos, sisters Guadalupe Vaiz and Rosie Asmus, nephew Robert Gallegos, and Godson Beto Serrano.
She is survived by her only daughter Maria S. Campos, grandchildren Patricia and Martin Campos-Ruiz, brothers Juan Ramon, Antonio, and Jess Campos, and numerous nieces and nephews.
I would like to thank the staff at Buena Vista Hospice for the care they gave to Socorro in making her as comfortable as possible and my family in making this transition very easily.
