Bertha M. Johnson- 99 a longtime resident of Saraland, AL passed away on August 4, 2015. She was born on January 7, 1916 in Quitman, MS. She retired from Bemis Bag Co. She and Mr. Johnson also operated Johnson Handy Grocery in Saraland many years ago. She loved quilting and made many beautiful quilts. She also enjoyed cooking for her family. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Saraland, AL, where she worked in the nursery for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Ernest E. “Jack” Johnson, her parents, six brothers and sisters. She is survived by one sister, Nell M. Beckman of Saraland, AL, her grerat-nephew and long-time caregiver, Chris Chestang, as well as many other cousins, nieces, and nephews. Funeral services will be held from the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Saturday August 8, 2015 at 1PM. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 11 until 1. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
