

Billy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He never shied away from sharing his love for Jesus and often said, “Christ is the first common denominator.” His life reflected his faith, his love of family and friends, and his joyful spirit.
He graduated from Davidson High School in 1968, where he played football and baseball all four years and was nominated Senior Class Favorite. Billy attended Troy State University on a football scholarship, playing as a linebacker. He graduated in 1972 with a degree in Business Administration. He later pursued a career as an electrician and was a proud member of IBEW Local 505.
Billy was an active member of Bayou Sara Baptist Church, where he formed many cherished friendships that felt like family. A passionate outdoorsman, he loved fishing and hunting with his beagles along with making lasting memories with those who shared in his adventures. Known for his generous heart, Billy found joy in helping others and was always ready with a helping hand.
He had a special place in his heart for children and delighted in making them laugh. Billy was an enthusiastic dancer, a captivating storyteller with a flair for embellishment, and someone who made everyone feel seen and appreciated.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Billy G. and Shirley June Smith.
Billy is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Cynthia “Cindy” Smith. They met in 1978 and were married on November 15, 1980. Billy expressed his love for Cindy through daily affection, love letters, and shared adventures. The couple treasured times spent together outdoors, especially at their river house, kayaking and enjoying nature.
He leaves behind his beloved children Ashley (Jacob) Dominguez, Tracy Smith, Stacy Smith (Matthew), John Smith (Brittany), and cherished fur baby, Gizzi. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren: Joshua, Jacob (Joana), Brandon, Brayden, Alivia, Brooklyn, Madison, and Bryleigh; and great-grandson, Jacob.
He is also survived by his siblings Michael “Mickey” (Helen) Smith, Richard “Dickey” (Rachel) Smith, and Rita (Robert) Brock; nieces and nephews Monica (Gene) Solomon, Jennifer Parker, Tiffany (Shannon) Dixon, Robert Brock (Clayton), Scott Smith, and Chris Brock; along with numerous extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.
A visitation for Billy will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at Bayou Sara Baptist Church at 10am-11am. The funeral service will start at 11am, afterwards the funeral procession will proceed to Pine Crest Cemetery in Mobile, Alabama.
Billy's laughter, love, and faith-filled life will be missed but forever remembered.
The family is requesting in lieu of flowers, to make donations to Bayou Sara Baptist Church c/o Billy Smith, to provide scholarships for the children and youth church trips.
