Elizabeth Emfinger Kimbrough

Elizabeth Emfinger Kimbrough – A native of Maben, AL and resident of Satsuma, AL passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2012 in a local health care facility. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Satsuma. She was a graduate of both Montevalo College and the University of South Alabama. Mrs. Kimbrough was employed at Brookley Field during WWII and after as an extension agent in Washington County, a teacher at Calcedeavor and Clarke County Public Schools, and a rehabilitation counselor at Searcy Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. J.E. “Ed” Kimbrough; and granddaughter, Mary Ellen “Mellie” Kimbrough. Survivors include five children, William E. Kimbrough, Tuscaloosa, AL; James E. Kimbrough, Jr., Satsuma, AL; Robert E. Kimbrough, Creola, AL; Martha Kimbrough, Chunchula, AL; and Elizabeth K. Rodgers, Saraland, AL; one brother, Dr. Orzaba Emfinger, Union Springs, AL; five grandchildren, James E. Kimbrough, III., Benjamin Gordy Kimbrough, Matthew Arlon Rodgers, Anna Kastorff, and William E. Kimbrough; three great-grandchildren, Rebecca and Rachel Kimbrough, and Rayne Kastorff; nieces, nephews, and other relatives. The family will receive friends at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Friday, January 6, 2012, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. Graveside services and interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Alzheimer’s Disease Foundation or charity of your choice.
