Mrs. Lewis was born in Georgiana, AL to Estelle Lindsey Fussell on November 30, 1932. She was married to Gwin R. Lewis. She is preceded in death by her mother and two of her children. She is survived by her loving husband Gwin R. Lewis, three children, eight grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Lewis were married on May 1, 1971, and enjoyed 49 years of a loving and happy marriage. Gwin lovingly took care of her the past 10 years during her time of declining health. Mrs. Lewis was a generous person that loved to laugh. She enjoyed providing food (and was a very good cook) to those around her. She and Mr. Lewis were past members of First Baptist Church Satsuma and are currently members of Redemption Church in Saraland. Her favorite time of the year was when family gathered around in their home. She would prepare each family member’s favorite dish or dessert. She loved flowers and her husband kept her room filled with at least three containers at all times.
The family would like to acknowledge the support of Kindred Care’s employees; nurses, Lana Long, Morgan Owens, all of the nurses’ aides, and social worker Chelcey Myrick who helped care for her during the last few years of her life. They would also like to express a sincere thank you to Chaplain Mike Elliott for his prayers and compassion during this time.
The family will receive family and friends at Graveside Services at Satsuma Cemetery on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 beginning at 1:00 p.m. Due to COVID-19 please respect the social distancing and wearing of masks at graveside.
