
"I sang Dixie as he died" Floyd "Catfish" Jordan, 83, was received by his "Lord Jesus Christ" on September 28th 2012 at 12:08 AM. Mr. Jordan, a true "Southerner" and son of "Dixie" arrived in Mobile, from his hometown of Evergreen, AL, riding an old bicycle 67 years ago. Mr. Jordan will be remembered for the love of his family and his ability to entertain and humor his friends with his "story telling of things gone by." Mr. Jordan was a U.S. military veteran serving with the 31st M.P. Company; 31st Infantry Division with a civilian career of 34 years as a conductor/ foreman for the GM&O and ICG railroads. Born of humble parents, Walt and Bethea Jordan, Mr. Jordan was raised by his beloved grandmother Carrie Jordan who now awaits him in heaven. Mr. Jordan is survived by his loving wife Betty of 64 years, his three children: Dan, Debbie and Denise, five grandchildren: Christian, Daniel, Ashley, Sarah and Katie, and one great grandchild: Madalyn Jordan, two brothers: Edward and Albert, and one sister Betty Louise. Mr. Jordan will forever remain in the memory of his family, many wonderful friends to include his brothers in the railroad community, Mr. Marcus Lambert, Mr. Jack Manning, Haven Wood Baptist Church, the Mobile and Fairhope communities. Visitation services will begin at "noon" on Monday, October 1st at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland, AL. Funeral services will follow in Radney's chapel at 2 o'clock. A funeral procession will follow to Vahalla Memorial Gardens immediately after services. "He closed those old blue eyes, and fell limp against my side.
