Since 2003, Mr. Brooks owned his own business, Brooks Lift and Hydraulic Repair, where he built a solid reputation among his many clients, business associates, and friends.
James was born the seventh child to Pauline and James Amos Brooks, on November 30, 1963. His father, James Amos, died of lung disease 12 days before James’ birth. James was, however, fortunate to have grown up with a wonderful step-father, Robert L. Young. Mother, Pauline, and Robert Young were very involved in all of James’ childhood activities, particularly baseball. They also influenced in him a love of fishing.
James has been a member of the Chickasaw community all of his life. He attended Chickasaw First Baptist Church and also the local public schools, where he met the love of his life, Lori Ann Dukes.
James and Lori have been married for thirty-three years. Together they have raised three beautiful children, James Amos Brooks, Amberley Ann Brooks, and Clayton Andrew Brooks. They have also been blessed with two precious grandchildren; Kinleigh, Hope Brooks, and Macie Claire Brooks.
Also left to cherish his memory are James siblings; R. Wayne Brooks (Angie Landrum), Doyle H. Brooks (Stephanie Johnson), Donald R. Brooks (Sharyn Vest), Karen Brooks Burns (Gerii Jackson), Rita Brooks Todd (Darby Watkins), loving sisters-in-law Linda Dukes, Anita Dukes Singletary, mother-in-law, Eva Dukes, and also many devoted aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
James is preceded in death by his father, James Amos Brooks, mother, Pauline Brooks-Young, step-father, Robert Young, and brother Joe Aaron Brooks.
