James "Jamie" Rogers Gallagher

James R. “Jamie” Gallagher – A native of Chickasaw, AL and resident of Saraland, AL passed away quietly at a local hospital on Sunday, February 26, 2012, after a brief illness. Mr. Gallagher was a 1960 graduate of McGill Institute and a graduate of the University of South Alabama. He was a veteran who served in the U.S. Navy. He was a past employee of Scott Paper Company where he worked for approximately eighteen years. He worked as a Boat Captain in the oil field industry for twelve years and retired as a Field Office Manager with Great Lakes Dredge and Dock. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jeremiah and Mabel Gallagher. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Cindy Few Gallagher; two sons, James Gallagher, Jr. and Guy M. Gallagher; one sister, Paula (Dick) Henry; two brothers, J. Michael Gallagher and Francis L. Gallagher; four grandchildren; his dog, Buster; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. The family will receive friends at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Wednesday, February 29, 2012, beginning at 6 p.m. with a memorial service to follow in the chapel at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or your favorite charity.
