
John Myles Hamilton - departed this life on April 13, 2010 at 4:20 PM. He is survived by three sons John Hamilton (Beth), Mike Hamilton, and Dan Hamilton (Tina) with wife Jessie Lee who passed away in 2003. Also surviving are wife Jean and daughters Marsha Darnell and Brenda Montgomery, grandchildren John Brett Hamilton (Tina),Caroline Hamilton, and Charles Hamilton, and two great grandchildren Cody Hamilton and Ashley Hamilton. John Myles was born in Grady, Arkansas on November 23, 1921. He grew up in Electric Mills, Mississippi, where he spent many happy days fishing the streams and hunting the woods of Kemper County. John Myles was a US Navy veteran of the Pacific theater during the second World War. He served as a diesel mechanic on a LCI Landing Craft, Infantry. He had been issued his winter uniform for the Japan invasion when the Enola Gay dropped the first atom bomb on Hiroshima. After the war John Myles worked as both a mechanic and millwright. He spent the last 29 years of his working career at Courtaulds Fibers North America. He loved his job at Courtaulds and the people with whom he worked. John Myles was a man who listened when people talked. He heard the Surgeon General's first warning and quit smoking. He inspried his children with his determination, perseverance, and unconditional love. He was a skilled fisherman and an excellent wingshot. He loved life. When he prayed, he prayed, "Thank You Lord for life itself". Funeral services will be held Friday, April 16, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Saraland. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 12:00 noon prior to services. Graveside services and interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. in Jubilee Memorial Gardens, Daphne, AL.
