Karin E. Smith – A beloved wife, mother and grandmother, died Thursday, August 9, 2012 in a local hospital. She was a native of Berlin, Germany and a US Citizen since 1949. She was a member of Turnerville Baptist Church and the Turnerville Ladies Club. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. Roy J. Smith; sister, Frauke Schicho of Hamburg, Germany; and her grandson, Oliver Smith. Survivors include four children, Doris J. Smith, Turnerville, AL, Glenn R. (JoAnne) Smith, West Plains, MO, Steven R. Smith, Turnerville, AL and Manton E. (Ann) Smith, Turnerville, AL; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 11, 2012, at 4 p.m. from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Saraland. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 2 p.m. prior to services.
